Another first of this style was that window shapes and their placement helped create privacy in neighborhoods where the public street and sidewalk were close by. At the rear of the house there would be a few large sliding glass doors which would provide light, access to and views of the private back yard. A large and attractive stone-faced front facade utilized the same material in the chimney and interior fireplace.
