The Bungalow is a subset of the Craftsman Style which is found in quantity here in the urban Northeast. It is thought that the shape comes from the Bengali region of India where the long protracted overhanging roof would have lessened the impact of the sun in that very hot region. Usually with a stucco exterior, they offered a pronounced first floor with smaller spaces above.
